What positions have you held at Extended Stay America and what has that timeline been?

I joined Extended Stay America in 2008 as a Guest Service Representative and subsequently progressed through various roles. In 2014, I took on the position of Team Lead, followed by an advancement to Assistant General Manager in 2017. Then a year later, I assumed the role of General Manager.

What are you most proud of throughout your career?

I take great pride in my journey from arriving in the country, initially joining as a Guest Service Representative, to ultimately reaching the position of General Manager. The ability to overcome challenges, learn a new language and progress in my career has been a source of immense satisfaction and accomplishment for me. Showing my children what you can do when you stay consistent.

In honor of Women’s History month, who is a woman that inspires you?

In honor of Women's History Month, Mariam Naseer is a woman who inspires me. Amidst the challenges of COVID-19, she demonstrated resilience and the power of community by actively bringing people together to support one another. Her example serves as a reminder of the impact we can have by uniting in times of adversity.

What advice would you give to a woman starting her career?

My advice to a woman starting her career is to establish a clear vision for yourself, set achievable goals and continuously challenge yourself. Once you conquer a goal, set new ones. Having a defined vision and ongoing goals will empower you on your career journey – remember, the only person who can limit your success is yourself.

How do you feel Extended Stay America champions or supports you as a woman?

Extended Stay America actively fosters an inclusive environment that values diversity and provides equal opportunities for career advancement. Additionally, Extended Stay America's commitment to professional development has been pivotal in my journey, contributing to a sense of support and encouragement!
